Essential logistics for Fiumicino (FCO) and Ciampino (CIA) terminal operations and Customs validation.
Fiumicino is Rome's primary international hub. It handles almost all intercontinental flights and long-haul connections. Terminal 3 is the main hub for non-Schengen departures and Tax Free processing.
Unlike Fiumicino, Ciampino is small. The customs office is located in the Departures area near the ticket counters, and another after security. Allow at least 2 hours before departure.

If your luxury goods are in your carry-on, you can complete the Otello validation after security at the ADR Info Point in Boarding Area E.
For FCO Terminal 3, Customs is near check-in counters 196–225. For Terminal 1, it is near 111–140. Do not drop your bags yet!
Show the officers your passport, flight ticket, Tax Free forms, and the purchased goods. They will stamp your forms. Now you can pack them in your suitcase and check it in at your airline desk.
Right next to the Customs desk are the Global Blue and Planet Tax Free kiosks. Hand them the stamped forms and your credit card to get your refund processed.
